Moisturise Before You Spray
Hydrated skin holds fragrance significantly longer than dry skin. Apply an unscented lotion to your pulse points before spraying — this creates a base layer that slows evaporation and keeps the scent anchored. In summer, when heat dries the skin faster, this single habit can add two or more hours to your fragrance's lifespan.
Target the Right Pulse Points
Wrists, the inside of elbows, behind the knees, the collarbone, and the sides of the neck are all effective spray points in summer. Behind the knees is particularly underrated — when wearing skirts, shorts, or dresses, the warmth there creates a natural diffuser that projects subtly upward throughout the day.
Spray on Clothing, Not Just Skin
Fabric holds fragrance significantly longer than skin, especially in heat. A single spray on the back of your collar, on a shirt cuff, or on the inside of a jacket can extend your scent by several hours. This is especially useful for beast-mode and evening fragrances where you want longevity without overapplying on skin.
Stop Rubbing Your Wrists Together
This is one of the most common fragrance mistakes. Rubbing wrists together after applying creates friction that breaks down the fragrance molecules and accelerates evaporation — the opposite of what you want. Spray and leave it alone. The fragrance will develop naturally and completely on its own.
Apply to Damp Skin After a Shower
The slight residual moisture on your skin after a shower helps fragrance molecules bind better. If you spray within a few minutes of drying off — before your skin has fully dried and the pores have closed — the scent absorbs more deeply and lasts noticeably longer. This is one of the most effective techniques for summer fragrance longevity.
